No More Words

( tribute to Jill Meagher. Not to be published for profit)

James WF Roberts***

No more words do we have
in our language or our hearts
no more words do we have
to understand, what goes
through people’s minds
when they’re the victim, of such
a thoughtless, random crime
no more words do we have
that will dry our tears
no more words do we have
to shake our new formed fears

no more joys will seem as pure
for the family left behind
what is the answer to our prayers
our disillusionment; with modern times
string him up…eye for an eye—
surprizing cry from Artists,
Creative Thinkers a-like

what does hatred breed?
where does violence against violence lead?

No more words do we have
to share in such pain
what went through her mind
as she turned down that lane?

What is worse
that the victim had to suffer
that great pain…that great sorrow
or a fellow human being was
capable of darkening a radiant beauty’s tomorrow?

What happens now to the pulse of the city
where music, art, poetry, greets you in every alley
parties that rage three days straight, random neighbours
walk in, walk out, all hours…
a fresh beer and a share in a pizza?

We need to lash out
we need to scream
to shout…we need to mourn
and look towards the morrow
no more words do I have
that can explain my shame
of what humans can actually do…

***Inspired by tragedy and by what Koraly Dimitriadis said about a week or so ago on Facebook.
Not the only one feeling so cold and empty at this and ashamed at both the act and the public execution people seem to be demanding.

people can pass this around, share it, etc. just make sure you mention the author’s name.

About jameswfrobertsdapoet

Emerging Poet and Writer. From Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. I present a show called Crazy Talk/Word Berserk, on I believe in what Phoenix has to offer. No where else will you get the diversity of Gospel, Country music shows, Koori themed shows and Poetry and Experimental music? My father, Bryan did a show on 3CCC in the 1980’s called the Keyboard Hour for a bout 8 years, until he died. That is partly why I joined Phoenix but mainly it’s because of the diversity we offer people and also I really do feel that we are an important vehicle, an important voice for the Community at Large. My interests are Poetry, Literature, Music, Movies, Cultural Awareness and Philosophical pursuits. My show is basically a Late Night Radio Show for Artists, Poets, Musicians and Creative Thinkers of all types to come and inform, enjoy, entertain and inspire each other. So join me and my guests from the local Artistic Community to be inspired, to be entertained and informed
